Access Services Committee Committee Meeting April 17, 2007 11:00 AM 702 Olin Agenda: Billing Committees Library-to-Library Delivery Service Patron Purge Agenda for the next Access Services Open Forum Minutes: Attending: Barbara Eden, Carmen Blankinship, Jesse Koennecke, Janet Gillespie, Joanne Leary, Cammie Hoffmier, Lenora Schneller, Zoe Stewart-Marshall, and Pat Schafer Billing Committees Carmen Blankinship gave an update on the progress of the billing committees. Minutes of the committees will be posted on the CUL wiki. One of the committees is working on a manual for Voyager billing procedures. The Consolidated Billing Committee will be sending a survey to unit heads and access services supervisors to gather information about current billing practices in unit libraries. Library-to-Library Delivery Service After some discussion of the expansion of the library- to- library service to library card holders, it was determined that a subcommittee should be formed to look at the many aspects of expansion of the library-to-library service. The subcommittee will be chaired by Jessie Koennecke with Cammie Hoffmier, Lenora Schneller and another member from the Get It committee making up the team. They will consider if library card holders should be able to use this service and whether journals and other materials should now be allowed to be requested through the library-to-library service. The committee will consider whether loan periods for library-to-library materials should be extended. These issues will be considered in light of the philosophy of seamless library service throughout CUL. Patron Purge The systems staff is exploring a purge of the Voyager patron database. It was agreed that in consultation with Lydia Pettis and the library accounting office that expired patron records with historic fines would be purged after six years. Expired patrons with no outstanding charges or fines or fees will be purged after 2 years.
