Access Services Committee Committee Meeting July 17, 2007 11:00 AM 702 Olin Agenda: 1. Mental Health Training Sessions by Gannett 2. Request for New Locations 3. July 24 Open Forum Agenda Minutes: In attendance: Carmen Blankinship, Barbara Eden, Joanne Leary, Nancy Moore, Staci Rogers, Lenora Schneller, Zoe Stewart-Marshall 1. Mental Health Training Sessions by Gannett Carmen described a new program sponsored by Gannett Health Services which aims to help staff and faculty recognize when a person is in distress and how to respond. Members of the program will start out by providing two presentations for library public services staff: -- Sept. 25th 9:00am at Access Services Open Forum meeting (group will have time for a 1 1/4 hour presentation) -- Oct. 24th 3:00-4:15 in Kroch (afternoon time intended to include evening and weekend staff). 1a. Disabilities Services In addition to working with the Students in Distress program at Gannett, Bethany Silfer is the library representative to campus Disability Services. She is working to make library services for patrons with disabilities more visible. Request for New Locations The committee discussed the proposed new location designations of materials in the Icelandic Collection, and how they would display in the online catalog since Icelandic is no longer a separate shelving location. 3.
