Access Services Committee Committee Meeting October 16, 2007 10:30 AM 403 Olin Agenda: Review of Annual Data Collection Related Tables/Measures "Owned" by the Access Services Committee Weil Cornell Medical College/Ithaca Campus Gateway Information
Minutes: Attending: Carmen Blankinship, Barbara Berger Eden, Jesse Koennecke, Staci Rogers, Joanne Leary, Cammie Hoffmier, Pat Schafer
Review of Annual Data Collection Related Tables/Measures "Owned" by the Access Services Committee Research and Assessment asked Access Services to review annual data collection tables and measures and offer feed back on which statistics should continue to be collected, added or deleted.
- Circulation/Reserve (table 5a) - the manual charge count should be dropped. RAU needs to find out what the Medical School is counting for manual charges, as well as where the RMC numbers should be placed in the Annual Report. There was a question if RMC numbers are being counted on two different tables.
- In-Library Use - will continue to keep this year to be reviewed again next year. Investigate the possibility of doing statistical sampling, like the method recently implemented for reference statistics.
- Reserves for print materials - these counts need to be kept, however, need to educate staff for specific item types when creating the reserve item records. We will only count "xxx, res" item types in the future.
- Ubiquitous Returns (table 5b) - Recommend eliminating.
- Library to Library Delivery(Call Slip) - Continue to collect.
- Faculty Office Delivery - keep, but discontinue use of the paper tally sheet that records which libraries make the deliveries.
- Interlibrary Loan, keep but would like to see the table reviewed/revised and placed into a more usable presentation.
- Gate Counts - keep
- My Document Delivery - keep
- E-Reserves - keep all three categories; faculty links and articles only, course builder role, course instructor role.
- Equipment Loans: continue to count "laptop" and "other equipment" circulations, but make them as two groups. "Other equipment" will include any item that is not a laptop: laptop peripherals, umbrellas, clickers, digital cameras, etc. Joanne and Jesse to work on creating two templates with specific codes so that these type of items can easily be pulled out of the circulation of numbers without the need to ask for Bib IDs from units. They will work to find a way to convert existing records to the new templates.
Weil Cornell Medical College/Ithaca Campus Gateway Information Reviewed Weil Cornell Medical college web pages on access to collections and borrowing privileges and recommend that they should be added to Ithaca Gateway website.
