The committee discussed what the future Access Services Web Site would look like. Xin Li will be meeting with PSEC on Friday, July 22nd.. Carla DeMello will be attending this meeting and it is expected that PSEC will discuss what the new PSEC Web Site and underlying committee web site structure will look like. The PSEC Web Site and Access Services Committee Web Site will be developed on CommonSpot software which is a content management system.
Probably, the PSEC web site will be at the top of the pyramid with the Access Services Committee web site linked. It will have the charge of the committee included, members of the committee listed, agenda of meetings, and minutes of meetings.  There would also be included Access Services policies, procedures, and staff contacts within the libraries. A further discussion of  form, content and arrangement will be discussed at a future meeting once we have more direction from PSEC.

The second agenda item was a discussion and review of the Access Services Open Forum (formerly called Access Services Program Committee) charge. This is the group which meets to foster communication among access services staff throughout CUL. The following charge was decided on:

Charge of Access Services Open Forum

Access Services Open Forum exists to foster communication among access services staff throughout CUL, by identifying and discussing issues of mutual concern.  Specifically, the Forum aims to address issues raised by library personnel and patrons alike that relate to access services functions: circulation, interlibrary services, document delivery, reserves, stacks management, building coverage and facilities, emergency procedures, security, and billing.  The committee meets on a regular basis, and meetings are open to all interested staff.  The agenda is set by the Access Services Committee and by suggestions from Forum participants.

The last agenda item discussed was a software package called Reserves Direct. This is a free, open source software  system for managing course materials.  For more information please go to the following web site at www.reservesdirect.org. A task force has been formed to look into this program and make a recommendation as to whether it is a good program for CUL to use. The task force members are: Jesse Koennecke, Carmen Blankinship, Howard Raskin, Sam Hultzman, Tom Trutt, Joanne Leary, Carla Bahn, Maureen Morris, and  Lydia Pettis or Surinder Ghangas..
