Announcements
The Instruction Construction panel at Professional Development Week went well, interest and engagement from the audience.

Retreat
We are collaborating with the Academic Technology Center (ATC) to present a half-day retreat on instruction technologies for CUL instructors in mid-August.  We discussed various options for topics, locations, dates and refreshments.  Leah will follow up with Clare van den Blink at ATC to confirm the August time-frame and start the planning process.  [We are on the ATC calendar for the second week of August, exact time and date to be determined.  Preliminary planning meeting with Leah, Camille and ATC folks on July 5.  Follow up discussion with full PSEC IC at our next committee meeting on July 11.]

PSEC Organization Feedback
We discussed the current PSEC organization and made several comments and suggestions regarding the new committees and communication venues.  Eli will take this discussion back to PSEC.  Individual committee members can send additional comments directly to Eli by the end of June.

TA Development Handbook
The Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) holds a full day TA training workshop for graduate students in the fall and spring and provide students with a handbook of CU instruction resources.  Camille has drafted an entry for CUL in the handbook based on the CUL handout for incoming freshman and a link to the CUL instruction coordinators list.  The committee reviewed the entry and made suggestions for Camille.

Library e-Services Fair
The e-Services Fair is renamed from the Library Technology Fair, previously organized by the Instruction Working Group.  It will be held on August 22 in the Libe Café in Olin Library.  Detailed planning will be discussed at the August committee meeting.

CIT/CUL Blackboard Integration Update
Every new Blackboard site will have Ask a Librarian and CU Library Gateway buttons.  Older sites may also gain these buttons as they migrate to the upgraded Blackboard system.  The new RefWorks Building Block will be incorporated into the tools menu of Blackboard so students can access existing RefWorks accounts or create new accounts. Instructors can include links to RefWorks accounts created for their classes in any of the Content Areas or their Blackboard site.  Documentation of these changes is forthcoming under Gateway Help.  CIT will be contacting all Blackboard instructors about these changes and they will be announced on the CUL-PublicServices-L when everything has been finalized.  CIT will also be providing training for instructors on incorporating Blackboard into their courses and CUL would like to have some time to present the new library features.  Customized WebFeat search boxes may also be explored for inclusion in course Blackboard sites in a later phase.

Review Ideas from Instruction Coordinator Meeting
Two main areas of interest that emerged from the meeting with Instruction Coordinators in May were assessment techniques including online quizzes, and instruction training opportunities.  Online quizzes will be included in the retreat with ATC in August.  The committee discussed offering a series of Brown Bag discussions through the fall on various instruction topics including assessment and other ideas suggested by Instruction Coordinators.  Leah will look into offering a formal instruction training series for library staff sometime in the spring.  It was agreed that the Instruction Committee would organize one meeting a year for all instructors to discuss needs, sometime in the spring opposite a fall retreat.

New committee members
Eli will follow up with PSEC concerning membership terms and the process for identifying new members.  [All Committee members will maintain their positions until August 1st. Anne Kenney will send out a statement of interest on the Public Services List Serve asking staff to consider membership by July 3rd.  The Instruction Committee will have two openings.]

Next meeting will be on July 11, 2006 at 1 PM, location TBD.
