Instruction Committee Meeting October 10, 2006 1:00 PM Olin 106 Agenda: Demonstration of instruction statistics system - Maureen Morris Minutes: Demonstration of instruction statistics system:
Maureen Morris demonstrated the Instruction Statistics system designed together with Kornelia Tancheva as part of a student-programming project. The system has many valuable features. Mann and Olin/Uris Library instructors currently use it. Committee members were very impressed with the system and endorse its use more widely. We plan to invite Maureen to demonstrate the system at a future Instruction Coordinators meeting.
A number of ideas were considered for future brown bag training sessions for library instructors. Ideas included: assessment, what to include in a one-shot session, Blackboard training, marketing strategies, and reflective analysis as an assessment tool.
Committee members discussed the eServices Fair held in the Libe Café during orientation. Suggestions were made regarding promotion and participation in the event.
Committee members who attended the event recapped the presenters and presentations included in the retreat. Powerpoint presentations from the retreat are available on the committee website at http://publicservices.library.cornell.edu/psa/Instruction/instruction-retreat-august-2006.cfm
Members reviewed a draft annual report and provided corrections and additions to the report. The discussion of the committee’s activities to date was helpful for the new members. The final report will be posted on the committee’s website.
The committee welcomed and reviewed the committee’s charge with two more new members Eric Acree and Xian Wu.
