Leah Solla's SciFinder Scholar training went well; several people participated and learned the new interface and there was another session in Mann on March 19 for Mann reference staff and anyone else who is interested.

SOS for Information Literacy: Tony participated in SOS for IL's instructor training and deposited several learning objects. His teaching tip on clickers will be featured in their next month's newsletter.

The Library e-Services fair sponsored by PSEC Instruction will happen August 26 in Mann's lobby. CIT (particularly Faculty Support Services) is participating in this event this year.

ARL Statistics: The instruction committee will look at outstanding questions about statistics in a future meeting.

February minutes will be sent to CU-LIB after Xian's return.

iClicker training

iClicker training will take place on Thursday March 13 from 3-4 PM in Olin 106. The training will be on the basics of using iClicker and the quick start guide will be available in Olin 201. Clickers will be scheduled through Olin 201 (libadmin@cornell.edu or 255-3393) as well.

Jerilyn Veldof's visit

The Academic Assembly was thought-provoking though a bit sparsely attended and Academic Assembly will send out a call for feedback. The workshop was very well attended and people seemed to get a lot out of it. The visit as a whole generated good discussions on methods of teaching and learning (utility of lecture/hands-on/demo and active learning) and the major necessity of ongoing training (both through systemic/library organizational support, release/staff time and resources to dedicate to instruction and through possible synergies between the work of PSEC Instruction, the information competency initiative, and Reference & Outreach). The group discussed possibilities for future regularly or irregularly scheduled events and programs to build on this momentum. The Academic Assembly presentation is on Slideshare at http://www.slideshare.net/Jerilyn/transforming-the-oneshot-library-workshop-for-the-new-learning-paradigm and feedback from workshop participants is posted at http://blog.lib.umn.edu/jveldof/workshopdesign/. PSEC Instruction will also send an e-mail to workshop participants and plan a future event to follow up on these discussions.

Library Instruction Partner Program

The committee approved the final form and discussed plans to launch the program via e-mail and/or a kickoff meeting to which instruction coordinators and other interested parties would be invited.

LibGuides

There are about 67 guides in the beta system (most for course rather than subject guides). The LibGuides group is planning future events about the system as the launch rolls out and Lance will let PSEC Instruction know if they can play a part in these.

Due to the length of earlier discussion the final agenda item was tabled and will be discussed in a future meeting.
