Announcements and Updates Tony provided details about the Jump Start seminars, a series of three CIT-CUL sponsored training and instruction sessions for faculty, that is scheduled for January 16, 2007. He and Camille have been planning and coordinating these events with Carla Shafer from CIT. Description from the publicity poster: ?The Virtual Reality of Instructional File Sharing.? Three back-to-back events designed to give faculty and teaching staff a solid overview of the technology, policy, and social aspects of using the Internet to deliver course materials to students.
2. Recap of Instruction Forum on Teaching One-Shot Sessions (Held 12/8/06) Group members have received informal ?positive? feedback about the Forum. The approximately 30 attendees shared Instruction experiences, perceptions, and raised questions on a variety of issues. (Camille has distributed her detailed notes of the Forum to Committee members.) Tony will contact Jacie Spoon, from the Ornithology Library, for her feedback as she had suggested the topic of this forum. The group also reviewed and discussed its schedule of public events that it sponsors and coordinates:
3. Briefing on Educator Professional Development Day Eric began the discussion by introducing his plans to develop a workshop for high school librarians, but that will not be ready for this year?s program. Tony reviewed the libraries that will be offering presentations to this group on March 23rd:
Tony shared a request from Doris Smith, from the JGSM Library, about doing a session or series of Brown Bag training sessions where staff from various CUL libraries could briefly describe the creation, content and special features of their web pages. The group discussed options around this idea. Tony planned to speak with Doris and may invite her to our next meeting. 5. Plan Instruction Coordinators Meeting The Instruction Coordinator meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9th, from 10 to 11:30 in Olin Library Room 106. The proposed agenda includes the following topics:
