Group has started reaching out to Stakeholders
Issues
- Will PSEC endorse/support LibGuides?
Angela shows PSEC the beta version
LibGuides is very customizable
- Can customize columns, tabs (helps minimize scrolling), pictures, statistics, videos, RSS feeds, navigation bar, databases, branding options, dropdown lists, events, comments, FAQs and much more
- Can share a single guide among multiple creators
PSEC is unclear on who is recommending the databases, the library or the person (there is an option to attach a rating to a resource)
PSEC brings up the issue of whether popularity matters to the users (the main guides page shows “most popular” guides -- based on hits)
LibGuides can be put in Facebook, and bookmarks can be pulled in from a browser toolbar
Angela alerts the group to the fact that future versions of the program could look different.
PSEC questions what the maintenance group will look like
Draft Budget
Handout of FY 06/07 and projection for FY 07/08
- Some of the amounts are too small to bother transferring between accounts
- Projection of 30% increase from last year
Xin has questions for PSEC
- Will PSEC host public forums? Yes
- What should we do about the 200 publicity items? Communications should pay to have these made, and we should no longer do the coupons
Xin will take this to Lee and take the $1400 out of the spreadsheet, leaving the $300
PSEC Committee Liaisons - New liaisons
Mary Ochs will take Kathy Chiang’s seat on PSEC and replace Pat Court as the liaison to PCAC
Xin will become the liaison to the Usability Committee
SCRLC CUL representative
Representative serves for 3 years
Lance H. will be leaving the committee and we will need to replace him
Lance was recommended by Carmen who had previously been on the committee
PSEC has questions of what the time commitment is and what is involved in serving on the committee
PSEC decided that it would be best to ask for volunteers
- Kornelia will ask Lance to ask Nora for more information about the position then it can be sent out to a librarians list through Susan Markowitz
