1) Announcements 

Blogging Committee’s Report (Marty Kurth)

  • The Blogging Committee has written a report on their recommendations for campus blog implementation
  • Action Items: Marty would like this topic to be added to the upcoming PSEC agenda, and will circulate the report to PSEC prior to the next meeting

Mann Library Renovation update (Kathy Chiang)

  • Mann Library is on track for the staff and book moves. They are still planning on remaining open during these moves.
  • An email will be sent the week of May 21st warning staff that contact will be easiest by email, not phone, due to staff moves

The Resource Discovery Systems (ReDS) group is currently looking at its future role (Scott Wicks)

On-going problems with Borrow Direct (Pat Schafer)

  • Courtesy emails and overdue emails from Borrow Direct stopped working in January
  • A notification email will be sent to CU-LIB regarding these problems
  • No fines will be charged to users

2) Cornell Teaching and Learning Consortium website (Marty Kurth)

Are there any Library initiatives that should be listed on this website, that aren’t already here? Please send feedback to Tony Cosgrave (ajc5@cornell.edu) or Oya Rieger (oyr1@cornell.edu)

Action Items: Liaisons to take this website back to their respective committees for feedback.

3) Membership for Reference & Outreach and Instruction Committees

New members will begin July 1, 2007

4) Continuation of direction for PSEC in 07/08: Review of Committee Goals for 07/08

Usability and User Studies

  • Integrating usability testing into our usual practices
  • Participate in the Rochester Xtensible catalog project

Reference & Outreach

  • Marketing and publicity for R&O activities (collaborate with the Communication Department)

              -Chat 24/7

              -Reference Blog

              -Ask a Librarian Bookmark

  • Continue forums for R&O experience sharing
  • Investigate support for distance students
  • Working on meeting training needs for R&O staff (system-wide)

Instruction

  • Assist colleagues in instruction endeavors

              -Online seminars

              -Resources for new staff

  • Work more closely with R&O (i.e. web guides)
  • Improve technologies

PCAC

  • Power saving on computers (to assist with President Skorton’s Climate Neutral University campaign)
  • Authentication of users

Access Services

  • Consolidated billing
  • Review and revise services

               -Library-to-library services

               -Circulation services information on websites

  • E-reserves (on-going)

Action Item: add to upcoming agenda-discussion regarding multiple web-guides groups

Have a social gathering with all PSEC and PSEC committee members during July

5) PSEC schedule during the summer

This will be discussed at the next PSEC meeting

Action Item: Tiffany to shift PSEC meetings back to the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
