The committee met in closed session to re-draft their charge and determine which sub-committees would fall under the PSEC Reference & Outreach Committee in the new PSEC structure.

All members approved the following draft.  It will be submitted to PSEC for final approval.

Draft PSEC Reference & Outreach Committee Charge
Provide leadership in maintaining a library-wide commitment to effective reference and outreach functions.  Working closely with other PSEC committees, serve as an information-sharing venue for reference and outreach best practices and activities.  Support the work of and provide input to sub-committees, task forces, and working groups with continuous commitments to reference and outreach functions.*  Establish new sub-committees, task forces and working groups as needed to work on special initiatives.  Maintain ongoing communication with Cornell entities that impact reference and outreach functions.  Support and expand outreach functions to include areas identified as CUL priorities.  Monitor and promote professional developments in reference and outreach; bring new ideas to the reference and outreach community and to PSEC.  Contribute to overall public services priorities through specific tasks as assigned by PSEC.

*Committee suggested that the following sub-committees, task forces, and working groups fall under the PSEC Reference & Outreach Committee.

**Virginia Cole proposed, Oct. 11, 2005, that Chat Reference Group and Chat Software Review Task Force get merged to form Digital Reference Services Steering Committee.

Several of the sub-committees and groups directly above have submitted draft charges for the R&O Committee’s input/review.  The committee will await approval from PSEC of our proposed structure before reviewing the drafts.
