3. Postdoc Research Day - is April 5th in room G10 Biotechnology. Participating include Kathy, Susette, Jim, Susanne, Virginia, and Jill. The materials for distribution for the first team will be in the CRIO offices outside Kornelia's office (or in obvious place right after entering the door).
4. Reference Statistics Reporting System - Kornelia
Discussion involved the formula for computing the total statistics per fiscal year. It is the total (from all 12 sampling weeks) x 4.17 = estimated total number of questions per fiscal year. This fomula derived d by taking 50 weeks divided by 12, which equals 4.17. 50 weeks is used instead of 52 because the university is closed about 2 weeks out of the year.
We need clear instructions written for the units, and Rick Silterra can put up a calculator on the RSRS webpage. Jill will draft this, and send to committee and to Gaby, who is returning part-time April 2.
The closing date for the previous years' statistics entering will be June 30th.
5. Reference Blog -
Virginia presented the idea of having a reference blog on campus where the libraries could share interesting reference questions and answers. We would need the patrons' permission, so only new incoming questions could be included, not archived ones. We could put up a release statement on the email reference web form so the patron would consent or not to having their question put up on a blog (without their name of course)
The purpose of the blog would be to promote reference service. It could turn into a knowledge base, but that's wouldn't be the primary function. We would need a moderator to moderate the incoming comments. Other committee members suggested adding news or conference trip report items to the blog.
We decided this would make a good topic for the May forum to have discussion and get input from others.
6. May Forum - social networking tools, such as wikis and blogs
7. Bookmark update - Susette will send a message to cu-lib before the April meeting with the URLs we brainstormed so far
