Public Services Committees Public services administration at CUL is vested in the Public Services Executive Committee (PSEC), composed of librarians from across the library system who manage a range of functional responsibilities. PSEC sets policy, defines goals and objectives, establishes committees and working groups, and works collaboratively with other library entities to support user needs. Six standing committees provide ongoing system-wide public service functions. Each committee reports to PSEC, bringing issues to PSEC’s attention as needed. In turn, PSEC refers issues to the appropriate committees for discussion, investigation, recommendations, and implementation. PSEC appoints the members and designates the chair for each committee. Committee membership is broadly representative of public services and other relevant functional areas and includes professional and support staff. A member of PSEC serves as a liaison to each committee. Committee meetings are monthly or more frequently as needed and are open to all interested CUL staff, unless an executive session is called. Each committee communicates broadly with relevant staff and groups, seeking their input as appropriate, publicizing agendas in advance of meetings, and preparing minutes for distribution on CU-LIB. Committees employ a number of means for soliciting input and addressing issues, including appointing subgroups, establishing listservs, and holding public sessions, such as brownbags and forums. A review of the committee functions and charges will be conducted yearly. The standing committees include: Addresses the needs of system-wide access services functions: circulation, interlibrary services, document delivery, reserves, stacks management, building coverage and facilities, emergency procedures, security, and billing.
