2. Recommendations of the Blog Software Search Committee

History

  • Committee recommended moving from stand-alone blogs to a centralized solution and proposed a CIT/CUL joint pilot project to investigate
  • Pilot project core team is comprised of 6-7 people
  • Management team includes Marty

Planning for CIT/CUL pilot has begun

  • Pilot will begin in summer and go through fall semester
  • Pilot will include communications/research blogs and academic (i.e., course-related) blogs

Library involvement in pilot

  • Need 2-3 CUL staff for user support & documentation (CIT will provide technical support)
  • Jim Reidy from DLIT already identified
  • Marty asked PSEC for 1-2 additional names from CUL public services
  • PSEC proposed one name; Marty will contact that person’s supervisor
  • Jean Poland proposed another; she will get back to Marty with a decision

Open questions from PSEC

  • Xin – Where are we going in the future with regard to blogs?
  • Pat – Will we stay in this technology?

3. PSA website structure review

Public Services and Assessment (PSA) needs a website to represent its organizational structure and to supersede the IRIS website. Xin distributed a diagram illustrating the proposed structure that PSA Cabinet approved of, and asked PSEC for feedback.

PSEC supported the structure and indicated:

  • RMC should be represented in the diagram.
  • Having all public services websites tied under “Public Services Administration” is a good step forward.

Xin will follow up with Jenn Colt-Demaree and also arrange updates for PSA web page contents.

4. MARC display in the Web OPAC

The MARC records are viewable by the public and at this moment contain private information that should not be seen by the public

PSEC has decided that the MARC view in the OPAC will have to be taken down until the records no longer contain the sensitive info

Eli and Scott will work on wording for a message to go out to CU-LIB about this, this week

Will need to wait for an alternative solution for storage of this confidential information, such as the Archivists' Toolkit, to put the OPAC MARC display back in place. In the meantime, Scott is investigating an interim solution in order to satisfy the immediate needs of all parties

5. All Committee Social

Should be informal

Will welcome new members and thank old members

Anne should be invited, schedule permitting

Will include about 50 people

Need to find room, date

Funding is available
