Guidelines for Hosting Classes in Olin Meeting Rooms (2008-2009)Drafted by PSA Cabinet and approved by Anne Kenney and Lee Cartmill, April 2008. This guideline is established in anticipation of the Olin Library renovation. Changes may be made to the guideline post-renovation. The CU Library meeting rooms are intended to further the academic mission of the University. First priority is given to library-related uses. When availability permits, classes are allowed in the rooms listed below, subject to the Library's approval. Eligible individuals or groups should e-mail a request to Cornell University Library Administration at libadmin@cornell.edu at least four weeks in advance of the planned first day of class. The requests are reviewed on a first-come-first-serve basis. AVAILABLE ROOMS The following rooms are available for classes. No cell phones, food, or drinks in open containers are allowed in any of these rooms.
ELIGIBILITY Regular CU classes that demonstrate a need to be in the library. All uses must be for lawful, non-commercial purposes. Priority room usage is assigned to classes that require proximity to library collections or service points. Other criteria will also be considered:
RESPONSIBILITIES The Library cannot provide additional tables, chairs, or equipment beyond those already in a room.
AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENT Library-provided audiovisual equipment (DVD player, VCR, or Carousel slide projector) may be used in the meeting rooms. A Library Media Center staff is available for assisting with the setup or taking down of the equipment. This service must be pre-arranged at least a week before the scheduled class time (contact the Olin Library Media Center at okumedia@cornell.edu; or call 255-6785.) The Library cannot provide any technical assistance for the equipment users bring in. The Library's approval for class room use does not constitute endorsement of the beliefs or ideas expressed by organizations or individuals using the space.
